You guys know that we, as a team, rarely do any statement, sometimes one or two comments about something that we didn't like so much, but never before we did any statement, but today, while reading Nick's interview for Metro.co.uk something annoyed us: the fact that sometimes singers and entertainers blame their fans when their solo projects doesn't go too well.
It's easy to be an artist like that: you record an album and if it goes well, it's 'cause the material was excellent and 'cause of the amazing fans they have. But, if it doesn't go as they expected it's 'cause the fans didn't embrace the cause and didn't want to know them as a solo artist. What about the singer? Does he stay at home waiting for a phone call to say that his fans from this and that country want his album, wants his show? Do we have to beg now?

We've been following them for 18 years, and with that we've been following them as solo artists as well. We want them to be happy and want their solo projects to go well either, though we don't want them to get out of the band, but it's always super nice to see that each one of the boys have some individual talent and that they can sing by themselves, that they're not another industry product. At the same time you realize they're not respecting their own work and fans.
We don't question Nick's decision (which was the same as AJ's and Howie) to release his solo album first (and exclusively) in an specific country, we do question his lack of enthusiasm of realizing it in other countries, his lack of enthusiasm in spread his solo work in all around the world, to make his solo qualities to be seeing by other industries, markets and fans. We don't as well, that he really can't travel abroad to make a solo tour in each and every country, we know he's part of Backstreet Boys and that it takes a lot of time, but we question the way he promotes his work, which is not the best way in our point of view, since it's restricted to a very small portion of his fans.
How many petitions (via twitter & facebook) had already been made to try to catch his attention, asking him to release his album in other countries, and we're not talking about South America or Latin America, but all around the globe, since his album was just released in Japan, Canada and Germany.
If we beg, we're picky, if we don't do anything, we don't want his album? Are we the ones who doesn't care about it? It's his lack of interest (not only Nick, but AJ and Howie as well, 'cause I'll only believe on Howie being different when I see his album being sold here).
They can't presume that every fan will have the chance to import their album, not only cause they don't have enough money to buy it from another country and pay in another currency, but this is not the biggest problem. What annoyed us the most was the fact of him saying: "I’m only one guy. (...) If UK fans decide they want my solo material, just let me know. I’m putting together a killer solo show. (...)"
Come on! Saying that is to admit that he's not capable of doing that. Is he really ready to "take Is it right to say "you're only one guy" and pass the responsibility to your fans? Is it right to say to your fans: "If I didn't go to your place is 'cause you didn't call me?" No, it's not!
Among all the Backstreet Boys, Nick is the one who have the most passionate fans, the ones who would do anything to go and watch a concert, even if they had to travel and cross the world. And he knows that, just check his latest videos. Instead of hire a cast for his videos, he just tweet and ask fans to be there at an specific time and guess what: they show up and make huge lines. They travel hours just for a chance to be at his video. He did that in Germany and did that, again, in the US. Even though he needs his fans to get reunited to ask, to beg, for a concert?
We kept thinking: "Is that it? Just a small group of fans are worthy his album or concert?"
It's not just annoying but disrespectful. It's arrogant, it's selfish, it's to think that his work is best thing in the world, is to think that he can lay besides his pool while his fans go crazy doing petition and asking (begging) to some producers so they can take him to their places, or at least near, so they can see him. Isn't it his whole? Isn't is his manager whole? To make it possible? To promote?
We really don't know, what we know is that this kind of things made us think and realize that we're losing respect for him. I won't respect who doesn't respect me.
We're not a bunch of money with legs, we're not just numbers.
Sorry if we offended someone, but after 18 years, not only them deserves our respect for what they did and do, but we deserve even more 'cause if they didn't have us behind them, they wouldn't exist
(Sorry for our poor English)
