"He announced he was going to be a dad just weeks ago.
So yesterday was surely one to remember for AJ McLean as he celebrated his first Father's Day in Los Angeles.
The Backstreet Boys singer, 34, strolled hand-in-hand with his wife Rochelle DeAnna Karidis as she showed off her baby bump in a fitted tank top on a shopping trip to The Grove.
Revealling her colourful arm tattoos, the model went for a casual look with flared denim, black flip flops and a matching tote.
AJ was dressed down in denim and sneakers, pairing a black vest over a graphic T-shirt and shielding his face with black sunglasses and a fedora.
The couple held hands as they walked to shops in the area, having revealled only seven weeks ago they were expecting a little bundle of joy by uploading a video to YouTube.
The 34-year-old singer can be seen sitting with his wife in the 30-second clip and sharing the news.
He said: 'I just wanted to say thank you guys for all your love and support. We recently got married - I was the most recent Backstreet Boy to take the plunge and get married.'
AJ added: 'Because we love you all so much, we wanted to share with you, for the first time, something very special.'
The couple then said in unison: 'We're having a baby!'
AJ and Rochelle married in December at the Beverly Hills Hotel, with his fellow band members Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, and former member Kevin Richardson said to have been in attendance.
The couple moved from Hollywood to the Valley area of Los Angeles last year to live in a bigger home in preparation to start a family.
However, he said then he was in no big rush to start having children.
'I think we'll be married for about three years before we have kids,' he said.
In January, AJ checked himself into rehab to seek treatment for substance abuse.
He has been in rehab twice before, once in 2001 and again in 2002, for addiction to alcohol and cocaine."
