He has battled alcoholism and been in rehab three times.
But AJ McLean is now sober and credits his wife Rochelle for helping him get there.
So the Backstreet Boys star showed how grateful he is as he treated Rochelle and their baby daughter Ava to lunch in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
The happy couple were seen walking hand-in-hand through The Grove as they made their way to the Fat Cow eatery.
At one point during the sunny stroll the pair stopped so that Rochelle, a make-up artist and hair stylist, could scoop Ava out of her stroller and into her arms.
The six-month-old looked cute as could be in a pink headband, top and Converse trainers, along with black trousers.
Her girly outfit stood out as she was ferried around by her heavily tattooed parents and other family members.
AJ, which stands for Alexander James, was dressed in a turquoise tank top and matching beanie along with double denim in the form of a waistcoat and jeans.
The 35-year-old accessorised with high-tops, a man bag, statement gold watch and dark glasses.
He seemed in a great mood as he locked fingers with his better half, who was dressed simply in a black T-shirt, skinny jeans and studded ballet pumps and handbag.
After spending his first Father’s Day with Ava on Sunday, the singer tweeted: ‘Thanks you all for the wonderful Father's Day wishes it was the best day! Ill post pics soon thank u n hope all the dads had a great one to! [sic]’
AJ and his Backstreet Boys bandmates can currently be seen in cameo roles in hit comedy movie This Is The End.
